A fun night in Wheaton
While WCRA has said that sponsoring an event with a local Scout troop might not be a match for the club, I do have an opportunty for any individuals who want to get involved in one of these fun events. It’s with a Troop in Wheaton on Tues 9/30 and helping out is simple! There’s no need to bring equipment… just bring your smile and desire to have fun helping some boys ages 11-17 (and their parents and leaders) as we get them on the air and rotating through three stations (HF, UHF, and DMR) and also give them the excitement of using a homemade Yagi to hunt for a radio beacon. That beacon hunt is one of the areas where we could use some extra help. All the equipment and details are organized. We just need 1-2 (or 3) more operators to join me and three others from DuPage ARES to help make it a great night. We have a brief planning call next week where we can bring you up-to-date on all the details. Just give Kirk Musselman K9MSG a shout. Contact info can be found on the email or on the roster. Thanks.

At First Glance
Wheaton Community Radio Amateurs, Inc. was founded in 1948. We are a group of amateur radio operators who promote the advancement of the hobby and science of amateur radio through:
- member participation in training and testing of new amateur operators;
- providing local communications infrastructure via repeaters;
- supporting local emergency services with secondary communications;
- and offering communications support for many local charitable and social groups.
WCRA is involved in all facets of Amateur Radio, supporting the healthy growth of the hobby through diversification and participation. If this sounds like a group you’d be interested in joining, then come to one of our events or meetings and see what kind of folks we really are.
Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Wheaton Community Radio Amateurs is to further the art of radio communications and electronics by mentoring anyone with like interests, participating in community events, preparedness in assisting in the event of a disaster where other communication modes can fail, while promoting social camaraderie among its members.
